“One of America’s Best Small Towns” – Smithsonian Magazine
With over 40 restaurants, a 522-seat preforming arts theater, indoor and outdoor pool, newly constructed recreation center, 10 city parks, museums, and more than 30 miles of recreation trails, you’ll forget Fairfield is only a town of 10,000 people.
Still, with those amenities Fairfield maintains the small town qualities you love. Fairfield Community schools offers small class sizes, while Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment provides the private school approach with a holistic personality. Fairfield’s public library has actual printed books along with internet access, audio books, and an ongoing schedule of exciting programs for both kids and adults.
Our farmer’s market offers not only conventional and organic produce, but unique products such as handmade skin care products, hand turned wooden bowls, and diverse ethnic food offerings, always accompanied by live music, children, and pets. Fairfield enjoys a very vibrant Buy Fresh, Buy Local living food economy and a growing culture of sustainable living.
“The trail system in Fairfield is amazing. After moving back to the area, it took me at least six months of exploring before I felt like I had found all the trails in and around Fairfield. You would be hard-pressed to find another town with 30-plus miles of interconnected trails within a 3-mile radius of downtown.” – Stephen Pedrick, PE, Project Engineer
